PT Fashion SS19: We saw tomorrow’s fashion with yesterday’s fashion

Portugal Fashion was officially our first event as bloggers, representing our blog in our beautiful city of Porto.

The last time we attended an event like this was back in 2011 (maybe to our hectic academic life) and we were quickly reminded of how fast paced and alive the fashion environment is. The event took place at Alfândega do Porto, as usual, and attracted all kinds of fashion lovers from all around the country.

Our looks:

For some days we were thinking what to wear to a fashion event like this. On one hand, we could choose something trendy, like the tartan that recently invaded every shop, or choosing something different.

The second option seemed the best one, of course!

So we decided to go take a look at the fashion of the future (Spring Summer 2019), whilst wearing fashion from the past. The first step was going to the most well known vintage shop in Porto, Mon Pére, at Rua da Conceição, nr 80. We must be one of the few porto inhabitants that had never visited that amazing shop! What a shame!

If you’re in the same situation as we were, and never been there, you need to fix that ASAP. The store owner, Mariana, is the sweetest person, and her red hair matches perfectly with all the unique and colorful pieces at Mon Pére.

After trying out many pieces and outfits, we decided to make the jackets the main pieces for both our looks. Each jacket costed 30€, a true bargain because they are made with real leather and are one of a kind.

João

“I chose two jackets with fringeAnd by having this edgy element, I opted to wear more neutral and simple pieces underneath, so that the jacket could be the star of my looks.”

Pedro

“I decided to buy two more basic jackets, in term of elements, but with a different cut. So, underneath, I wore shirts with strong colors and patterns that were a perfect complement to both of my jackets, thus, creating a more current look.”

The runway presentations

Out of the 4 days of the event, we only went to 2, on October 18 and 19. We watched 2 runway shows, from 2 different designers. Below, you can see some of the photos we took of a few looks that, for us, stood out on the runway. We are sorry for the lack of quality in these photos, but the models were walking too fast for us to catch it perfectly (eheh).

Diogo Miranda

Miguel Vieira

Here is a small video from the designer Miguel Vieira, from our perspective, so you can see this show exactly like we did. We chose this particular show because it drew our attention due to the pattern, color and model diversity.

Showroom

Besides runway presentations, there is a showroom where you can find different brands and designers, with pieces on display. These were the ones we liked the most:

Patrick de Pádua

The Baron’s Cage

And to finish off this post, we would like to publicly thank our dear friend Diogo Zenha Gomes, that always saves us in this situations where we don’t know what to wear! eheh

And you?

Do you feel more inspired by the current or vintage fashion?

Life is full of choices,

When in doubt, flip a coin
